When you are running an online business, it’s important to know if you are making progress, especially if your site is getting targeted traffic and if it’s increasing each year. Google Analytics allows you to see what traffic changes have occurred during a specific time period.
Obviously, in order to complete the following tutorial you will need a website with Google Analytics tracking code installed. If you do not currently have a Google Analytics account, you can sign up here: https://www.google.com/analytics/sign_up.html
Once you have your account setup and you have installed the code, you will need to wait for a few weeks for your site to gather enough data, this tutorial is mainly for those that have had analytics installed for a long time and just want to compare time frames.
To compare date ranges do the following:
- Login to your Google Analytics account
- Click on the “Reporting” tab
3. Then click on the date on the top right of the page, after which, you should see a box appear similar to the one shown below:
Enter your date range, check the box that reads “Compare to:” and select from the dropdown menu.Then click apply.
You can now keep track of how you are doing each month, year or even every week.If you analytics has been installed long enough, then you can go back several years and compare all your stats to see what is improving or isn’t and this information should help you improve your overall marketing strategy.
