Display a public profile feed, showcase multiple accounts, create a handpicked collection of posts, or build an advanced filtered feed using the X API.

Choose from responsive grids, carousels, sliders, masonry layouts, and the signature WDS slide-out panel.

For most websites, the Easy X Feed and Social Proof modes require no X API credentials.

Three Ways to Display X Content

Easy X Feed—No API Required

Quickly add official X feeds from public profiles or public X Lists without setting up developer credentials.

Enter one or more X usernames and display the feeds in a responsive stack, grid, or carousel. You can control the theme, height, borders, header, footer, scrollbar, and other timeline options directly from Joomla.

Easy X Feed is ideal for:

Curated Social Proof

Choose individual public X posts and arrange them into a curated collection.

Simply add each post URL, drag the posts into your preferred order, and include optional labels or notes. Display your collection as a list, responsive grid, masonry wall, carousel, vertical slider, or rotating single post.

This mode is ideal for presenting:

• Product mentions

Website owners are responsible for obtaining any permission required to use another person’s post as an endorsement or advertisement.

Advanced X API v2 Feeds

Connect the module to your own X Developer account using a Bearer Token for greater control over the content displayed.

Advanced mode allows you to:

• Combine posts from multiple public accounts into one feed
• Display results from an X recent-search query
• Include or exclude replies
• Include or exclude reposts
• Display only posts containing media
• Filter posts by minimum likes or reposts
• Sort posts by newest or highest engagement
• Use official X embeds or eligible custom WDS cards

Complex posts, including replies, reposts, quotes, and certain edited or restricted posts, automatically use the official X display to preserve the correct context and attribution.

Advanced mode requires a valid Bearer Token and appropriate API access from X. X Developer subscriptions, usage limits, and API charges are separate from the purchase of this Joomla! module.

Responsive Feed Layouts

Present your X content in the format that works best for your website.

Available layouts include:

Set different column counts for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. You can also control the spacing between posts, card corner radius, shadows, and overall module width.

Carousel and slider settings include autoplay, rotation speed, visible post count, navigation controls, and pause-on-hover behavior.

The WDS Slide-Out Panel

Keep your X content accessible without taking up valuable space on the page.

The rebuilt WDS slide-out panel can be positioned on the left or right side of the browser window. Visitors can open it by clicking or hovering over the tab.

You can customize:

• Left or right positioning
• Vertical placement
• Panel width
• Tab text
• Click or hover activation
• Animation speed
• Automatic opening behavior
• Opening delay

The panel can stay closed until a visitor opens it, appear once per browsing session, or open automatically after a specified delay. Responsive mobile behavior keeps the feed practical on smaller screens.

Privacy and Consent Controls

External social media content can affect visitor privacy. WDS X Feed Slider Pro includes an optional consent mode that prevents X widgets and remote X images from loading until the visitor chooses to view them.

Privacy features include:

• Consent-based loading of X content
• Custom consent message and button text
• Session or local consent memory
• Delayed loading of the X widget script
• Delayed loading of remote avatars and media
• Do Not Track preference where supported

You can also select immediate loading when it is appropriate for your website and privacy policy.

Control X API Usage with Cost Guard

Advanced X API access may be subject to usage limits or charges imposed by X. The built-in API Cost Guard helps reduce unnecessary requests and gives you greater control over API usage.

Configure:

• API response cache duration
• Daily request limits
• Daily resource limits
• Stale-cache availability
• Feed behavior when new API content is unavailable

The module caches API responses, prevents duplicate simultaneous refreshes, and can continue displaying previously cached posts when a new request cannot be completed.

If no suitable cached content is available, the module can display an official public profile feed, show a custom message, or produce no output.

Cost Guard provides local protection within Joomla. The billing and usage controls in your X Developer account should remain your final safeguard.

Customize the Appearance

Choose an automatic, light, or dark theme and adjust the feed to complement your Joomla! template.

Appearance options include:

Add a Feed Title and Follow Button

Add an optional title above your feed and encourage visitors to connect with your business using the configurable Follow button.

The Follow button username can be configured independently from the accounts displayed within the feed.

Built for Modern Joomla!

Version 3.0 has been rebuilt using the current Joomla module architecture and Web Asset Manager.

The module does not bundle its own copies of jQuery or outdated Twitter libraries, reducing the potential for conflicts with Joomla templates, page builders, and other extensions.

Every module instance uses unique identifiers, allowing you to place multiple WDS feeds on the same page without their scripts or controls interfering with each other.

Upgrade from WDS Twitter Widget Pro 2.x

Existing WDS Twitter Widget Pro users can install version 3.0 over the previous extension without uninstalling it first.

The upgrade process is designed to preserve existing Joomla module records, including:

• Module positions
• Publishing status
• Menu assignments
• Module ordering
• Compatible display settings

Compatible usernames, colors, slide-out panel settings, and other options are migrated automatically.

Legacy Twitter API v1.1 credentials are obsolete and are removed from the active module configuration during migration. Modules previously configured for search will require a current Bearer Token from the website owner’s X Developer account.

Always back up your website and test the upgrade on a staging copy before installing it on a live website.
